Incompetent Employers

Have you ever worked for somebody and couldn't help but think, "Who hired this guy?" If so, then you are probably living my life.

Everyday I go to work, I have to pray first and ask God to give me the strength to deal with the crap that I know is bound to emerge while at work. I work at a restaurant, and we are ALWAYS running out of something. Most recently, we ran out of straws so the manager went to the store and has us serving the guests unwrapped straws. I've been embarrassed to work at this particular restaurant before, but my embarrassment reached its climax that day. Not only were the straws unwrapped, but they were the colorful bendy ones that people serve at a barbeque.

Never in my life have I worked somewhere the manager didn't do an inventory check EVERYDAY. This manager never knows we are about to run out of something until its gone.

With this said, i honestly feel that it is a requirement to be incompetent at all times. Do you work at a place where you feel that you are smarter or more qualified than the person above you?

Library Crisis: What's Really Going on?

I don't really visit my local library branch considering I'm in college. I normally just use the library at my college or I use the Internet on my laptop. Unfortunately, a few weeks ago I was forced to abandon my precious laptop because my Internet service was not working.

As a child, I can remember those special trips to the library. I used to be so excited to the point where it felt like a field trip. I use to stop by the computers and play a fun learning game such as Arthur, and then go searching through the books to find one that I like.

Well I guess that those days are long gone. Of course, they still have the childeren section, but what about those who are not children? I needed to use the computer to print off some items. When I walked into the library, I noticed that baout the 65% of the adult computers were gone. With all the computers gone, this leaves a person like myself having to wait an hour or more just to use a computer. I asked one of the librarians what happened and her reply was, "the county took them." Huh? The county took them? Is the recession that bad that the government has to take computers out or libraries? What's next, the schools?

My main question is really, where is the tax money going?
