What has happened to our youth?
Yesterday, I was on the train coming from class, and was startled as to what I was forced to witness. A group of young black teens were on the train talking loud, cursing and overall just being extremely ignorant. "Man its too many white people on this train. Take me back to College Park." All I could do was shake my head and turn my IPOD up a little louder. As I did that, I sat back and pbserved other people's reactions to these teens convo as they sat there talking about their gang creed amongst other things. The white people looked very uncomfortable and the older black people looked like they were ready to pounce on the teens. My question is, what makes it okay to be ignorant? I texted many friends yesterday regarding the issue and most people replied, "they don't any better." Huh? How hard is to carry yourself with some form of dignity besides being a representative of the newest gang? As a young black female, I decided a long time ago to try and never be a statistic. Yes I am from College Park (southside of Atl), but at least I know how to act like I have some sense. Being loud and ghetto is far from attractive and it is beyond me why some youth think it is okay. You should always want more for yourself and be willing to learn new things regardless of where you come from. The whole time I was on the train, I wanted to hold up a sign saying, "Attention, not all black youth act like this." Before I can blame youth, I must blame their parents. Why aren't black parents teaching their children how to act right? And why does it have to be "acting?" Oh how could I forget? Parents aren't raising our kids. The media is, i.e. BET, MTV, local radio, video games. etc. SMH That's a whole 'nutha story......

Drive & Purpose
What drives your life? Everyone in life is driven by something. The dictionary defines drive as "to control, to direct, or to control". With that being said, I ask you again, what drives your life? Are you driven by fear, materialism, guilt, hope or perhaps motivation? I want you to think about your purpose in life? What are you really here for? Knowing your purpose in life not only adds motivation and meaning, but it also simplifies and focuses your life. Today I challenge you to seriously think about what drives your life and are you truly following your purpose?
