Does Race Really Matter?

Is race still relevant in the year 2011? At first glance, one might think, "No. We have came a long way." My question is, how many of you wake up everyday knowing what your race is? Does it even cross your mind? When you see a person, do you see their race first?

Well apparently race is still a big deal to some people. For example, what is this issue going on with Halle Berry and the father of her child? He doesn't want his child to be labeled "black". Halle believes in the one drop rule and therefore categorizes her child as "black." I think that Halle should realize that her and her daughter are two different people. For her to label her child as black is basically ignoring the child's father race and his history.

I think that not only does race separate a society, it also links certain groups together. How are you affected by race?
